Asteroids have been a wonder for years now especially to those who studies more about the space above us. Recently, NASA has announced its goal to at least go to an asteroid and bring back samples that can be studied here on earth. In order to do the research, NASA has been seeking research partners who can invest in this ambitious project. It promises to give scientific details about the formation of the universe as well as the existence of life on Earth.
The mission is projected to take place five years from now, in the year 2021. At first, NASA will launch a robotic mission that will go to an asteroid task to grab several boulders off its surface. The robot will bring it back and put in around the moon. Some asteroid prospects had been made as well. After another five years, respectively on 2026, researchers probably astronauts will have to travel to the asteroid and conduct a study about it. The astronauts are given the goal of bringing back samples to our planet.
This could open new discoveries about the origin of life and of course provide important information and data about asteroids and its elements. Research proposals are now accepted. The mission will not just provide data, but will also help us to prepare in protecting the earth from probable dangerous asteroids. This will also open a new Mars journey. Proposals are open until 2018.
The robotic mission on 2021 will also demonstrate some defense we can do in order to obstruct asteroids and keep the Earth safe in the future. The project resolves to get a piece of an asteroid that cannot do any harm to our beloved planet. If it turned out successful, then alters to scientific books are necessary for the near future.
A Smithsonian was left with a cetacean skull in his care for over half a century ago. It wasn’t known that the skull was actually an undiscovered species of a prehistoric dolphin. It was placed in an archived and stored away with people not thinking about it too much; however recently it has surfaced that it was actually an important piece of discovery that has been sitting right under the table. The cetacean skull has been identified by Smithsonian paleontologists, is believed to be a relative of the now modern Asian River dolphin. It simply shows that there are still many discoveries in the world that people should pay attention to.

Before, a mapping of the prehistoric skull was conducted at Alaska’s Yakutat borough; a prehistoric skull was unearthed at this place. The skull was damaged and the specimen was sent to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History where it stayed for around 60 years without garnering too much attention. It was not until then that a Smithsonian paleontologist luckily found its existence in the archives. Even though the skull has been damaged, there were clear signs that it belonged to an ancient form of dolphins. It was an old fossil that can hold the key to the evolution of the Oligocene period.
Not only that but, news state that researchers are also curious about the place where the skull was discovered. Locations like Alaska are not usually places where marine mammals dwell which makes it even more surprising to see a very rare find and also a new discovery at that. As the skull is studied it’s the nearest kin is said to be the modern river dolphins. There have been also prior discoveries about fossils in 2015 where dinosaur bone fragments were extracted with blood cells. The bones have been in the Natural History Museum of London for a century and more even before the shocking discovery happened.

There is a lot of news regarding the advancements of the field of robotics. There are robots that are being used for deep sea and space exploration – things that cannot be attained by a human because of health hazards and other dangerous risks. Robotics can also help the handicap and the elderly since it allows them to improve on their quality of life. It gives them the ability to do the things that they aren’t able to do because of certain impediments. It can assist people in the medical field by giving a more accurate detection of illnesses and more precise methods for surgery which can significantly improve on the recovery of patients.
